About Me

Hi, my real name is Amanda O’Rafferty but I usually go with just Raff when I’m online. Hence, most of my friends tend to know me by Raff. People in real life tend to just think I’m either shy and awkward or stuck-up and weird. I have pretty bad social anxiety so I don’t tend to talk to people much. Unless they are fellow crazy cat ladies, in which case I will probably talk to them a lot.

Apart from cats, I feel very passionate about feminism, human rights and anti-discrimination. I feel that people should be able to make as many choices as possible concerning their own life but not past the extent that it could potentially hurt other people. In saying that, I'm not a big fan of consumerism and capitalism. I hate that there is such a massive gap between the rich and the poor.

I like to get involved in volunteering whenever I can. For instance, I foster cats and kittens through the RSPCA, I was a telephone counsellor with Lifeline (until 2012 when head office made major changes and cut a lot of regional call centres), I tend to help out with university events and I helped assemble birthing kits with the local health group.

Writing is a major hobby of mine. I have a lot of penpals from all over the world and I love creative writing. I tend to suck at non-fiction writing but can usually get my point across. I have started writing stories using just about every genre imaginable. I tend to pick things up for a while then put them down again depending on which genre I'm in the mood for. I would love to try and get some of them published one day. I also write fanfiction but it isn't something that I take seriously.
